Cosmic Kim

Street Poet, Druid, Living legend, Cult Icon, Sun Dancer, Season-watcher, Tree Worshipper, Mad Genius, Better the Devil you know, The Alpha and the Omega…among many, many other things…

…there’s many way to describe Hampshires favourite Pagan Poet. Kim has been a pillar of the Southampton scene for over a decade and he’s still not shy of original ideas. His live appearances are events of the outer realms of abstraction in themselves. “Bollocks!” He shouts as the strobes kick in, frantically thrashing at his synthesizer as if coaxing the last rasps of a choking chicken.

Having already gained legendary local status, (As well as an international following). Kim’s live blend of frenzied, disordered synth-dance fusion and Poetry is a boiled down stew of social observation and wry political commentary. It’s also exceptionally funny…although…probably not for the faint-hearted.

“Power to the people! – But only the nice people!” He shouts at the giddy, confused and captivated audience. His self recorded CD’s are considered akin to Gold-dust amongst many members of the Southampton student fraternity, and on witnessing the man at his art – you can see why. This is true outsider art.

‘Cosmic’ Kim makes a point of playing live with many line ups and guest musicians, including bongo players, drummers, guitarists and the occasional didgeridoo. Occasionally appearing with his band “The Spliffs”…You may already begin to picture the sporadic funk stage explosion that such a line up could entail…and yes, it’s probably not for children.

From the minimal electronic soundscapes of his solo ambient work – to his full on mind-boggling live shows as ‘Kim and the Spliffs’ – There’s on thing for certain…he’s not to be ignored. (Check Youtube for a taster.) He has quite a following…you should join it.

Kim likes house parties, green tea and good smoke.
